Wireless Charger Power Adapters: What to Check Before You Buy
Check voltage, connector, power requirements and package contents before choosing an adapter for a desktop wireless charger.

Choose a wireless charger's power adapter from the requirements for the exact charger model. Confirm the connection, required electrical specifications and any supported charging protocol before buying or connecting a replacement. The shape of a plug and the largest wattage printed on a box do not provide that complete answer.
The phone receives power wirelessly, but the desktop charger still needs its own power source. Treat the connection between the adapter and the charger as a separate compatibility check from the connection between the charger and the phone.
Start with the charger's requirements
Look for the instructions and input label on the charger. When an adapter is supplied or explicitly recommended by the manufacturer, keep its model information with those instructions. This is more useful than remembering only its color or advertised wattage.
For a replacement or separately purchased adapter, the information to establish is:
| Requirement | What you need to know |
|---|---|
| Input voltage and supply type | The voltage and whether the charger requires DC or another specified supply |
| Current or power requirement | The manufacturer's required supply capability |
| Connector | The exact compatible plug and cable arrangement |
| Polarity, where applicable | The matching polarity for a DC connector |
| Protocol, where applicable | Any required USB charging protocol or supported power profile |
| Package contents | Whether the appropriate adapter and cable are supplied |
If a required detail is missing, obtain the manufacturer's recommendation before connecting an alternative. Do not try a collection of similar-looking plugs to discover which one works.
A USB-C port does not answer every power question
USB-C identifies a connector system. USB Power Delivery is a separate capability which a product may support. The USB Implementers Forum explicitly distinguishes the terms in its product language guidelines.
For a charger with a USB-C input, check the specified adapter and cable combination. Do not assume that a laptop adapter, a monitor's USB port or a cable already in your drawer meets the charger's requirements. USB-IF also notes that cables have different capabilities. USB-IF cable guidance
This is especially relevant when a listing shows a connector clearly but does not give a complete power specification. Ask for the missing information instead of converting the photograph into a recommendation.
What is currently documented for our two models?
The Air Force Command HQ 3.0 specifies 12V DC input. That voltage alone is not a complete replacement-adapter specification: the correct current capability, connector and polarity still need to be confirmed for the supplied unit. Adapter and cable inclusion are not specified in the current listing.
The Service Depot has a USB-C input. Its published packing list names one assembled unit and does not list an adapter or cable. The connector does not establish a required USB protocol or a complete power profile.
Both products arrive assembled. This means you are not being asked to build their electronics; it does not mean that an arbitrary power supply can be used. Confirm the correct accessories before planning your desk layout or giving the charger to someone else.
Keep input ratings separate from phone charging speed
An adapter's advertised output describes the adapter, while the desktop charger's input specification describes its supply requirements. Neither number alone establishes the wireless power a particular phone will receive.
Our wattage guide explains the different parts of that chain. Do not choose accessories on the expectation that a higher printed number will automatically make the phone charge faster.
If you need a recommendation, contact Customer Help with the charger model and a clear image of its label and existing power accessories. Include your destination country so plug compatibility can be checked too. Wait for the exact matching recommendation before purchasing or connecting an uncertain replacement.
